How to Measure Your Nails Perfectly for Press-on Nail Products:

Getting the perfect fit for your nail box starts with accurate measurements. Whether you're using a ruler, measuring tape, or even money, here's how to ensure your custom nail set fits flawlessly.
Method 1: Measuring with a Ruler
This method is straightforward and requires only a ruler. Follow these steps:
-
Width Measurement:
-
Place the ruler horizontally across your nail.
-
Find the widest point of your nail and measure from one outer edge to the other, keeping the ruler straight, not curved.
-
Record the measurement for each finger, from thumb to pinky.
-
-
Length Measurement:
-
Place the ruler vertically along your nail.
-
Measure from the base of your nail to the tip.
-
Record the length for each finger.
-
-
Finalize:
-
Note down the measurements for each nail, along with your desired nail shape and length.
-
Send this information to your nail technician when ordering your nail box.
-
Method 2: Measuring with Measuring Tape
This flexible method provides a closer fit. Here's how:
-
Prepare:
-
Use a soft measuring tape. If you don't have one, you can use a strip of paper.
-
-
Width Measurement:
Wrap the measuring tape around the widest part of your nail, ensuring it's straight and snug but not too tight.-
Record the width for each finger.
-
-
Length Measurement:
-
Measure from the base of your nail to the tip.
-
Record the length for each finger.
-
-
Finalize:
-
Compile your measurements and send them to your nail technician, specifying your desired shape and length.
-
Tips for Accuracy:
-
Avoid Over-Tightening: Don't pull the measuring tape too tight, as this can result in a smaller measurement.
-
Center the Tape: Ensure the tape is centered on your nail for accurate results.
-
Measure Natural Nails: If your nails are polished, it's best to measure on natural nails for the most accurate fit.
-
Alternative Tools: If you don't have measuring tape, use a strip of paper or tape, mark the measurements, and then use a ruler or a virtual ruler app to measure.
Accurate measurements are important for a perfect press-on nails fit. By following these methods and tips, you can ensure your custom nail set is just right.
How to Put On Your Press-On Nails
What You'll Need:
-
Nail file
-
Buffing block (or a gentle nail buffer)
-
Cuticle stick (or an orange stick)
-
Lint-free alcohol wipe (or nail polish remover)
-
Nail glue or nail adhesive tabs
-
Your press-on nails
Optional (but helpful):
-
Nail clippers
-
Cuticle nippers
-
Warm water and salt (for a relaxing soak)
Let's Get Started!
Step 1: Prep Your Nails
-
Remove any old nail polish. Make sure your nails are clean and free of oils.
-
Clip your nails if they're long and file the edges to smooth them out.
Step 2: (Optional) Soak Your Nails
-
Mix warm water with a little salt.
-
Soak your nails for 5 minutes. This can help soften your cuticles.
Step 3: Push Back Your Cuticles
-
Dry your hands completely.
-
Gently push back your cuticles using the cuticle stick.
-
(Optional) Carefully trim any dead skin around your cuticles with nippers. Be very gentle!
Step 4: Buff Your Nails
-
Use the buffing block to lightly buff the surface of your nails. This helps the glue or tabs stick better.
Step 5: Clean Your Nails
-
Wipe your nails with an alcohol wipe to remove any dust or oils.
Step 6: Apply the Press-On Nails
-
Lay out your press-on nails in order so you know which one goes on which finger.
-
Apply glue or adhesive tabs to your natural nails.
-
Carefully press the press-on nails onto your natural nails, holding them firmly for a few seconds.
Step 7: Nail Glue
-
Cut the tip off the nail glue tube.
-
Apply a drop of glue to your natural nail.
-
Quickly spread the glue over the entire nail surface using the glue tip.
-
Press the press-on nail onto your natural nail and hold for 10-15 seconds.
-
If you get glue on your skin, wipe it off immediately with an alcohol wipe or nail polish remover.
Step 8: Nail Adhesive Tabs
-
Peel a tab off the clear sheet. Keep the protective cover on.
-
Stick the tab inside the press-on nail. Choose a tab size that fits well.
-
Remove the protective cover from the tab.
-
Press the press-on nail onto your natural nail, pushing it towards your cuticle.
-
Hold firmly for 10-15 seconds. Make sure the nail is straight.
Removing & Reusing Your Press-On Nails:
-
If you have cuticle oil, apply it around your nails. This helps loosen them. If you don't, that's okay!
-
Fill a bowl with hot, soapy water.
-
Soak your nails for 20-25 minutes.
-
Gently lift the press-on nails off using a wooden cuticle stick.
-
Don't force them off! This can damage your nails and the press-ons.
-
If they don't come off easily, soak them again. (If you don't want to reuse them, soak them in 100% acetone.)
-
Buff off any remaining glue from your natural nails.
-
Apply cuticle oil and let your nails rest for 48 hours before applying new press-ons.
To remove glue from the press-on nails for reuse:
-
Use an e-file to gently file off the glue from the inside of the nail.
OR, carefully wipe away the glue with acetone on a brush. Avoid getting acetone on the front of the nail.
